So on my last post, someone called my path to becoming a “successful” author “fools gold.” Yes, they actually used those words.
The cost of being an ambitious author
The first day I got the news I was in my downtown apartment, home alone on a plain day, watching YouTube videos on my TV. An email came through from my agent who told me to call him, and since we primarily speak through email, I figured it was important.
I thought it was an interesting statement so I did a video to discuss whether the author dream is worth it and how I feel about my path and my success.
And just to be clear, this person is really a cool guy. He reads and comments on almost all of my posts so I’m sure he didn’t mean anything negative. And we go back and forth in the comments all the time so I actually appreciate his honesty. I’m just using his comments as a way to start what I believe is an important conversation.
