How this indie author outsold Harry Potter

Can you imagine selling millions of books? What do you think it would feel like? What would you do when you sell the first million, the second million, what about the third million?

Now imagine you sold all those millions independently.

That’s exactly what happened to UK author LJ Ross. In 2022, it was reported that her independently published crime novels were second only to Jack Reacher. That meant it outsold both Harry Potter and Game of Thrones in the UK top ten bestseller list.

As of July 2022, Ross’ novels have sold 7 million copies independently. She has turned down publishing deals from all of the top publishers. Instead, she’s created her own publishing company, Dark Skies Publishing.

Another indie author, Rachel Richards, was able to make close to $100,000 in passive income ($97,000) in one year with her financial book. Rachel also retired at the age of 27. The passive income she earned from her rental properties made that possible.
